January 12th, 2007: No new answers from the neurologist, but no news is good news! I started pre-school on the third and I love it! I'm making a lot of new friends. I got a princess car for Christmas and I'm still learning how to drive it. It's fun!
September 11th, 2006: We have been soo... busy! Since the last time I wrote we have moved into a new house & I have learned so many new things! I am now using some simple sign language to communicate with my family better. My favorite sign is "please" -- I can say please too and a lot of other words! I am progressing everyday and my mommy and daddy say I am a very smart little girl! I got a MRI in the beginning of August and I am going to talk to the neurologist this month. I will leave an update after I see him!
March 30th, 2006: I have been babbling like crazy! This morning when mommy was getting me dressed I said shirt, socks, shoes and when I wanted my ducky blanket I said duck! I recently started behavioral therapy and found a great therapist named Nicole! I like her a lot! Well, there's not much else going on so I'm gonna get back to playing!
March 9th, 2006: Things have been busy so my mommy hasn't had much time to write! I got really spoiled on my birthday and I had a lot of fun! I ate like a pig and threw cake everywhere! I am enjoying all my new toys and clothes. I can almost use a spoon by myself, but everyone still has to help me out a little!
February 18th, 2006: I'm the birthday girl today! Now I am a big 2 year old! I have speech therapy in the morning and then a big birthday party in the afternoon!
January 16th, 2006: So me and my family were sick over the holidays, but Santa still came to my house! I got a lot of new toys and clothes! I also received a very special Christmas gift from Songs of Love it made me soooo... happy! They wrote a song just for me! The chorus goes "UhOh UhOh UhOh We Love Kaylee". My mommy's gonna try to put it on my website so everyone can hear it! You should really visit their website and see what they do for special kids! The words, music and vocals are all by Ernie Gold. Everytime my Mommy plays it for me it makes me really happy. We are truly blessed to have people take time out to write a song just for me and we can never express enough thanks to Songs of Love or Ernie Gold!
December 8th, 2005: I had a good Thanksgiving and ate a lot of turkey and mashed potatoes! I keep learning and using new words! I like to say "what's that" and "dog" the most! My most recent learned words are book, shoes and juice!
November 2nd, 2005: It has been a long time since I wrote, but we've all been very busy. I am babbling more than ever and have been learning new things like crazy! I dressed up as a princess for Halloween and had lots of fun trick-or-treating! I am still using my words and whenever I see our dog Lucky I have to stop and give him a hug and call him a dog...yes I can say dog now too! Tomorrow is my big sisters birthday...she is going to be ten!
September 16th, 2005: I wanted to let everyone know that I learned how to say the word "doll" today! Mommy and Daddy are so excited! These are the words in my vocabulary: mama, dada, more, no and doll!
September 14th, 2005: Today Sharon said "no" to me and I said it back! That's two words in two days! Mommy says I'm smart!!!
September 13th, 2005: Mommy is going to write for me because she is so happy for me...here she is... Here is the latest update on Kaylee! Within the past week Kaylee has been saying Mama and Dada and knows what they mean! Over the weekend I was reading with her and I point to the pictures and say what they are then she points to them. She got up and pointed in my face and said Mama and then gave me a hug!!! It was so adorable! When we ask Kaylee where her mouth and belly button are she points to them! She can ALMOST say belly button, but its still baby babble! Her latest achievement happened last night!!! I have been teaching Kaylee sign language so that she can communicate with me better... while I was signing and saying more food she started saying "MORE"! Loud and clear! So of course I had to get the video camera out and film it! We are so proud of her!
September 7th, 2005: Well, it's been over a month since I've written! Me and Mommy got sick a couple weeks ago. We're all better now! I love my new speech therapist and still love my occupational therapist and developmental specialist! I recently learned where my mouth is! When Mommy or Daddy ask me, "Kaylee, where's your mouth?" I point to it! I also sit down when I'm told! I'll write more later!
July 19th, 2005: I have been very cranky lately! I have 4 molars coming in and they hurt! I do have good news though...Mommy found me a speech therapist! Yeah! I get to meet her on Thursday! We have been waiting for a speech therapist for almost a year and now I finally have one! Talk to you soon!
July 9th, 2005: Mommy and Daddy took me, Brandin and Jocelyn to Disneyland! I wasn't on my best behavior! I was really cranky the whole time and home sick! I did go on the It's A Small World ride...I had so much fun on that ride! Mommy thought I would like the tea cups, but I just sat there the whole time. Small World was better!
June 21st, 2005: I went to get a MRI last Monday, but ended up not getting it done because the hospitals machine broke. I was very tired, hungry, thirsty and upset because I had to wait there for so long and the nurses said I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything because of the MRI. I was so happy when Mommy said we were leaving and I got to drink a big cup of apple juice and eat mac 'n cheese! On Tuesday I went to see my doctor for my 15 month check up! I'm doing good! My head hasn't grown, but that's okay! It's only supposed to grow a little bit from 12-24 months! I weigh 18lbs 1oz and I am a very tall little girl measuring at 32" long! I like to clap my hands and say mama & dada a lot! Well, thats all for now!
June 1st, 2005: My gums are still very swollen, but one of my molars is finally peeking through! So just to let everyone know...I have 9 teeth! Have a good day!
May 26th, 2005: Last night me, mommy, daddy and Jocelyn went to Brandin's eighth grade graduation! I am so happy for him! He is going to be a big highschool kid now and he will protect me from all the people that try to pick on me! I even clapped for Brandin all by myself! Ever since a couple of days ago I like to clap my hands together! Yeah Brandin "clap clap clap"!!!
May 25th, 2005: My eye is all better! Yeah! But now I'm cranky all the time and throwing a lot of tantrums because my molars are coming in! My gums are very swollen and they hurt really bad! Other than that I'm doing good...I'm still walking and I can even walk in shoes now! I say dada and mama and sometimes I babble to myself when I'm playing! Mommy says if I'm a good girl her and daddy will take me to Disneyland in July! That would be so much fun! Tonight I'm going to my favorite big brother's (Brandin) 8th grade graduation! I'm so proud of him!
May 16th, 2005: Hi everyone! Mommy took me to the doctor on Friday the 13th (scary) and they took more blood and gave me two shots of medicine. Then they told mommy I had to go back on Saturday. I cried the whole way in the car on Saturday because I knew where I was going! I got lucky on Saturday because they didn't poke me at all, I think its because I gave them dirty looks! They said my eye was doing better and gave me an antibiotic to take! So overall I'm doing a lot better than I was!
May 12th, 2005: Hi Everyone...here is the latest on Miss Kaylee...Last night her eye swelled up for no reason. I called the doctor and he said to give her Benadryl and if it gets worse to bring her in. Today we woke up and her eye was even more swollen. She had an EEG done at 11am to see if she is having seizures. They hooked up tons of electrodes to her head. In order to put the electrodes on her head we had to swaddle her in a big sheet and she cried and cried and cried. She did fall asleep though (which she needed to do for the EEG) so overall she was a good girl even though she cried a lot! At 1pm we had an appointment with the neurologist. He read the EEG and Kaylee is not having seizures!!! YEAH! The neuro did say that I should either take her to her doctor or the emergency room immediately for her eye being swollen. So I called her pediatrician and he was booked full so I took her to the emergency room. Well we got good news from the neuro, but not from the E.R. Kaylee has cellulitis which is an infection of the tissue under the skin. It is caused by bacteria that enters the body through cuts or sores. If it is not treated, the bacteria may enter the blood stream and cause blood poisoning. So they took a blood count, gave her an antibiotic through an IV and told me she needs to go see her doctor in the morning. This is very serious. The emergency room doctor wanted to admit Kaylee into the hospital, but since her blood count was okay Kaylee's pediatrician said we could send her home. Hopefully the antibiotic will kick in and she will get better! It has been a very long day for me and Kaylee and it will be another long day tomorrow! Just wanted to let everyone know what is going on with Kaylee! Keep her in your prayers!
May 11th, 2005: Tomorrow I am going to have an EEG done and after that I am going to visit Dr. Bernes (my neurologist). The EEG will determine if I am having seizures or not. Please pray that I am not having seizures...I don't want to have to take those horrible medicines! I will let you know how it goes!
May 9th, 2005: Today I went to the cardiologist and he told me that all of the holes in the lower chamber of my heart are gone! So now I have a completely normal and healthy heart! The holes can't ever come back! I am so happy! Yesterday was Mothers Day and I was very good for my mommy! Me, Brandin, Daddy and Jocelyn bought mommy a really pretty pink ring! She loved it! Okay...I'm gonna go nite nite now!
April 21st, 2005: I have been walking all over the house and trying to sneak away from mommy and daddy! I walk more than I crawl and I'm still saying, "dada" like crazy! Just wanted to check in and tell you all I'm doing great!
March 18th, 2005: Today is Brandin's (my big brother's) 14th birthday! He is the best brother in the whole world! Last night I said, "da da" for the very first time! Mommy and daddy were so happy for me! Everytime I say it everyone claps for me! I went to the doctor for my one year check-up and shots two days ago! I'm doing good! My head is growing (38cm), I weigh 17lbs 12oz, and I am 30-1/4" long! Well, I'm gonna go learn how to say Brandin now and give him the presents that I bought him!
March 8th, 2005: I got approved for physical, occupational and speech therapy. So far I have only found an occupational therapist to visit me! I'm on waiting lists for the physical and speech therapists. Mommy keeps telling me to walk! I'm almost ready! Now I crawl on my hands and feet instead of my knees! It's called the bear crawl! I can stand up by myself without holding onto anything and sometimes I'll tease my parents and take two to three steps, but then I fall down! I'm still not talking, but once I start I know I won't stop!
February 9th, 2005: Well, not much new is going on! I don't drink formula anymore only big girl milk! I have just been crawling around the house and cruising the furniture! I have an evaluation to receive occupational therapy on Friday. After that I am meeting with Vicki (my developmental specialist)! Next Sunday I have an evaluation for physical therapy! All these therapies! I will let you know how it went next week! Wish me luck!
February 1st, 2005: Hi everyone! A week ago Mommy started feeding me "big girl" milk! It's so much better than that yucky formula! Mommy still mixes the formula and milk together, but after the formula is gone Mommy isn't buying anymore! I'm growing up so fast! Mommy is having a birthday party for me on the 19th and I'm so excited! Well...as usual I have to go play now!
January 11th, 2005: Last night Mommy fed me lasagna (baby food, stage 3). It was so yummy! Mommy said she is so proud of how well I ate the big chunks of noodles! Tonight I might try cottage cheese or chicken noodle soup (baby food, stage 3). Tonight me, Mommy and Daddy will work on waving, clapping and saying my first word!!! Wish me luck!
January 7th, 2005: A lot has happened since my Mommy last wrote for me! Mommy and Daddy had a wonderful, beautiful wedding! After that I went on vacation to my Great Grandma Ellis' while Mommy and Daddy went on their honeymoon! I had so much fun going places and visiting people with my grandma! Mommy and Daddy picked me up and two days later I had my very first Christmas! Santa went to a lot of different houses for me and I got spoiled! Christmas was so much fun! I also wanted to tell you that I have seven teeth now! Four on the bottom and three on top! It's pretty cool having teeth, but they hurt! Well I have to go play now! I'll write again soon!
December 16th, 2004: I don't feel good! Yesterday Mommy took me to the doctor...I have a cold! I got another tooth in too! I have been drooling like crazy. Good news...the lady from Medicaid called my Mommy and I finally got approved for insurance! I'm gonna go back to sleep now so I can feel better for Mommy and Daddy's wedding!
December 10th, 2004: As most of you know my Mommy and Daddy are getting married on the 19th. Mommy has been so busy with all of the wedding stuff she hasn't had much time to write for me! On Wednesday I met Vicki. She is from Early Intervention. She will be coming over to play with me and Mommy once a week! I'm so excited because she is a really nice lady. Today my Mommy, Daddy and me are meeting with Phyllis from DDD to go over some things. After that the people from AHCCCS are coming over to see if I can get approved for Medicaid. I have a very busy day today! After all of those meetings I'm gonna tag along with Mommy to go finish up some more wedding stuff! Well, I better rest up for the long day ahead of me!
November 30th, 2004: This morning my other front tooth came in! That's why I have been so cranky! So now I have four teeth! Mommy says that I ate like a piggy tonight! I had a whole bunch of mac & cheese and formula!
November 25th, 2004: Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! Mommy and Daddy cooked and we had some people over! I had a lot of fun playing with everyone! Mommy tried to feed me mashed potatoes, but I spit them out...yucky! I am very tired from playing all day so I'm going night night!
November 18th, 2004: Last night I was very very fussy! I didn't want anything except for my Mommy to hold me! Mommy checked to see if a tooth was popping through my gums, but there wasn't anything new! Mommy gave me some teething tablets and I finally passed out! This morning Mommy and Miss Sharon held me down again and looked at my gums. Guess what??? I got another tooth! My top front right tooth finally came in! The top front left one will be showing soon too, because Miss Sharon said she could feel it! Now I am proud to say that I have three beautiful white teeth! How exciting!
November 16th, 2004: My Mommy has been lazy lately and hasn't been writing for me every day! Anyway...my favorite thing to do now is to stand up! I will stand up and hold onto anything I can get my hands onto. There is only one problem...after I stand up for a long time I get tired and need someone to help me down. If no one helps me I just scream until they help me! I also haven't been sleeping through the night lately! I think I'm gettin more teeth! Getting teeth hurts...I also drool a lot because of it! If my gums hurt I think I should wake up my whole family!
November 7th, 2004: This morning I had a tummy ache, but I took a nap and then I felt better! My Daddy made breakfast this morning! I got stuck eating rice cereal though! In the afternoon me, Mommy and Nana Linda went wedding shopping! I even got two outfits out of going with them! I had a lot of fun shopping! After we were done buying stuff for Mommy and Daddy's wedding we went to see my Papa and Grandma Sampalik! I got really tired and cranky after about an hour so Mommy took me home, fed me, and I went night-night!
November 6th, 2004: Today I'm drooling a lot cuz my teeth are coming in! My Mommy let me spend the day with my Great Grandma Ellis! We had so much fun! Then Mommy picked me up and we went to the grocery store to get food! After that I ate my dinner and passed out!
November 5th, 2004: Mommy picked me up early from Miss Sharon's and I saw my favorite physical therapist Elizabeth! We played and I showed her how I can crawl!
November 2nd, 2004: It's election day today and I'm not allowed to vote! Anyway I ate some mixed berries grown up food for dinner! After that I played and watched Mommy & Daddy cook dinner and do the dishes! Pretty boring night!
November 1st, 2004: Not a lot going on today! I played at Miss Sharon's all day...Mommy picked me up and now I'm at home crawling all over the floor! All of my toys are out and I can't decide which one I want to play with!
October 31st, 2004: Today is Halloween! I watched football with my Daddy today! After we ate dinner I got to dress up as a lady bug again! Me and my family went trick-or-treating! This is my first Halloween and it is so exciting! A whole bunch of people told me how cute I was! October 30th, 2004: Today was a very exciting and fun-filled day for me! I went to my big sister, Jocelyn's, volley ball game. She won all three of the games that she played! I was so happy for her. After the game my Mommy & Daddy took me with them to shop for the last of Jocelyn's birthday presents! We had so much fun together! After we were done my Nana (Candy) came over with my Aunt Charity and my cousins. Nana brought me a cute little Christmas bear that makes a lot of different sounds. Jocelyn opened all of her presents and then we were off to the Halloween carnival at Peoria Sports Complex! I got to dress up as a ladybug! I saw Skylar from Miss Sharon's house and she looked just like a princess! After that we got to see real hot air balloons! I was so worn out from all of this excitement that I fell asleep. Mommy said I didn't miss anything except for the boring drive home! What an exciting day!
